About Marcel

Marcel is working in the multilateral division of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Prior to his current work at SDC HQ, Marcel has been based in fragile- and conflict-affected countries since 2001. He has held a variety of positions with different organisations, including Deputy Director of and Acting Director of Cooperation for SDC in Mali and in the Great Lakes; Head of Sub-Office of UN OCHA in Mogadishu; Country Director of Oxfam in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; as well as Delegate, Head of Sub-Delegation and Deputy Head of Delegation in Haiti, Afghanistan, Chad, oPT, Liberia, and Sierra Leone for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Marcel is a development, humanitarian and peace building generalist. He holds an M.A. in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.

His private interests include politics, meditation, diving, and all kinds of technology.
